Hollis Hui is a Hong Kong/London-based interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and writer. She utilizes new mediums such as living microorganisms to explore the intersection between art, science and technology. Hollis’ early practice encompasses time-based/multi-media installations and immersive experiences, incorporating sound design, moving-image, performance and text. Currently, she is interested in the themes of natural phenomena, humanitarian concerns, evolving technologies, and human physiology.

Hollis' practice shifts between digital art, bio-art, speculative design and interactive/experiential design. She examines how emerging and evolving technologies—such as artificial intelligence, surveillance architecture, and data privacy in social media platforms—are constantly reshaping and influencing our world. At present, Hollis’ practice explores creatively and critically the development of contemporary computing technology and its wider social impact, focusing on the ways in which computational infrastructure can both conceal and reveal broader socio-political debates on health crises, data ownership, and digital governance.

Hollis' work has been selected for the UAL & Google Arts and Culture Graduate Showcase Collection (2023) and was recently shortlisted for the Global Design Graduate Show in Collaboration with Gucci (2023). Additionally, she has been nominated for the New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize (2023) and the MullenLowe NOVA Awards (2023). Hollis has exhibited at Lethaby Gallery, LUX, The Koppel Project, RIVA Studios, ArtSect Gallery, The Hub Gallery, among others. She received a First Class Honours in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and a Graduate Diploma in Creative Computing from the UAL Creative Computing Institute.
